Success Stories

"When a pregnant patient was “forced” to quit her job because she was pregnant, her medical provider referred her to MFAP.  MFAP advised her how to pursue a discrimination claim with the Human Rights Commission and helped start the process.  She eventually prevailed and was awarded damages."

"A new mother was referred to MFAP by her medical provider because she did not want to take her newborn baby home to a substandard, unhealthy trailer.  With the assistance of a pro bono attorney, the patient successfully sued the landlord.  The case settled with the landlord agreeing to pay damages."

"A single parent was referred to MFAP when his landlord threatened to evict him for having a companion dog that was prescribed by a medical provider to help ease his son’s depression.  I advised the patient this was discriminatory and he could seek relief in court.  The patient passed this information on to the landlord who then withdrew the threat of eviction."
